Balloon Story – a breathtaking, immersive installation where every world, creature and moment is crafted entirely from balloons – will make its Australian debut in Melbourne and Sydney in January 2026.
Fresh from a record-breaking New York season in 2024 where Balloon Story transformed the historic Park Avenue Armory in New York City into a 30,000-squarefoot universe of air, art and imagination, Balloon Story will create all-new Australian-specific content celebrating some of our most iconic buildings, locations and stories.
In New York, over 400,000 biodegradable balloons were used to sculpt immersive worlds — from prehistoric jungles and ancient temples to cosmic cities and deep-sea adventures. The exhibition drew tens of thousands of visitors, families, and creators, becoming one of the most talked-about art-meets-play experiences of the year.
Visitors step into a journey through time — from the age of dinosaurs to underwater realms, ancient civilizations, space exploration, and beyond. Each room is a cinematic scene built at scale using hundreds of thousands of biodegradable balloons, transforming familiar stories and landscapes into awe-inspiring, photogenic, and deeply imaginative experiences.
Hailed as “the most joyful exhibition of the year”, Balloon Story is produced by an international team of creative directors, balloon engineers, artists, producers, and brand storytellers with decades of experience in immersive design, cultural production, and family entertainment.
