News: ‘SIX The Musical’ Will Reign Again Live On Stage In Australia!

After triumphantly taking the West End, Broadway, and stages across the globe by storm, the international smash-hit phenomenon SIX the Musical will make its royal return to Australia in 2026, with seasons confirmed at Melbourne’s Comedy Theatre from July 2026, Theatre Royal Sydney from October 2026 and QPAC’s Playhouse Theatre in Brisbane from January 2027.

SIX is a musical about the ex-wives of King Henry VIII, who held the English throne from the age of 17 in 1509 until his death in 1547. But this is not a stuffy, old retelling of history. No, no. Writers Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss have taken some creative liberties injecting modern-day language, mobile phones and dating norms such as swiping left or right on a potential match.

It’s a concept that shouldn’t work, and yet it does brilliantly.

SIX is a modern retelling of the lives of the wives of King Henry VIII of England presented as a pop concert, as the Queens take turns singing and telling their story to see who suffered the most due to Henry and should, therefore, become the group’s lead singer.
