A Melbourne season has been announced as part of the Australian tour of the award-winning Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre production of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s celebrated rock musical Jesus Christ Superstar. The production will play at the Princess Theatre from March, following seasons at Sydney’s Capitol Theatre and Perth’s Crown Theatre.
Formally known as Fan Fair, CMA Fest began in 1972. This year’s festival raised more than $2.5 million for music education and saw more than 90,000 people flock to Nashville, Tennessee.
Attending CMA Fest can be a scary, confusing and overwhelming time for those who have never been before. So, I’ve gathered together some tips and tricks for making your four-day experience at the world’s largest country music festival hopefully, well, easier.
Above all else, have a great time. Music brings people together and creates a sense of community with everyone there to have a good time. That feeling is palpable, especially when everyone is up singing and dancing together. CMA Fest is a huge yet incredibly well run event, and well worth going to at the very least once in your life if you’re interested in country music.
With thunderstorms predicted in Nashville on June 9, the rain and slightly cooler weather was a relief from the heat on the festival’s final day. Well, maybe only for us winter-loving beings.
Day 4 was a more chill and social day for me. I hadn’t a full list of places that I wanted/needed to be like previous days and again, with the cooler weather, I felt more inspired to walk around, see the sights, experience more of Nashville and discover whatever new music took my fancy.
I knew day three was going to be a good one with Sounds Australia putting on an all day Aussie BBQ showcase, followed by securing tickets to Nissan Stadium that night.
I was much more prepared on day 2 as I had a rough idea of location (although I was still getting lost) and knew what was possible to squeeze into a day.
I had landed in Nashville the night before, unprepared for what was to come. Having never been to Nashville, the United States of America or CMA Fest, I had no idea what to expect, especially, considering my trip was booked last minute. The first thing I did was download the CMA Fest app. I like having a loose plan when I travel so this was perfect in telling me which artist was playing, when and on what stage – which was helpful yet also flawed (but more on this later).
