What: Last Chance To Dance – The Final Tour (Casually Dressed & Deep in Conversation Night)
Who: Funeral for a Friend
Where: Richmond, Melbourne
When: February 17th, 2016

Last night, it was an absolute privilege and pleasure to have the chance to see the last show that Funeral for a Friend will ever put on in Melbourne. The band, currently on their final tour put on an epic show in Richmond last night during their Casually Dressed & Deep in Conversation set.

It’s always hard to talk about bands that you don’t know too well because you don’t have much to compare it too – but on a whole, I was blown away by the vocals on the lead singer. You could tell through his words and through his eyes how much touring as a band, and being able to come to places like Australia to play for their fans means to him and the rest of the band. He said it many times, but unlike some artists that are so bitter and jaded, I could tell that he truly meant it.

There was also crowd surfing, something I am not accustomed too, during the set and after a rough spill from someone in the crowd, the concert stopped so that they could be looked after. The band looked concerned and then heed warning for everyone to be friends and look out for each other. I know it’s quite a weird thing to mention, but I thought they were just really nice, cool, down to earth guys – and that’s not something I often say.

Also, very cool, that they were just hanging out in the crowd during the opening acts, without a care in the world. There was also no security, and people coming up on stage didn’t seem to both them. It’s just something I’m not used to.

My personal highlights were the singalong, clapping, jumping, waving and basically any interaction with the crowd. Such great fun! Even though it was my first and last time seeing them, it was an honour. Thank you to FFAF for allowing me the opportunity to witness what an amazing band you were – or I guess are … at least until the last tour date.
