timdrraxl-644x336

Tim Draxl has been enchanting audiences both onscreen, for his roles in A Few Best Men, Swimming Upstream, A Place To Call Home and the new tele-movie, Molly – as well as on stage, with his one man shows, Freeway – The Chet Baker Journey and Cabaret, since the tender age of 16. Now at 34, he returns to the stage with his new show, Once Upon Another Time.

You recently returned from America – what were you doing over there?

I try and go over once or twice a year. I have a green card, so I have to keep it active and I have lots of friends over there, because I used to live in (Los Angeles) – I lived in LA for seven years. I went to LA for a couple of days, then Aspen, then New York and then back again. It was a bit of a quick trip. I was only gone for two weeks, but it was good fun.

Thoughts of Ghost – The Musical

robjemma

When: February 17th, 2016
What: Ghost – The Musical
Where: Regent Theatre, Melbourne

I had a rare break in my schedule and decided to go see the matinee performance of Ghost – The Musical. I’ve never seen the movie so my knowledge of the story didn’t stretch further than the lead male being a ghost and making clay together – but I went along away and I was pleasantly surprised …

It’s one of those things, to get five guys all with a little bit of a break from their schedules all at the same time,  it’s a pretty big ask! I suppose it just had to wait to the point where it happened all very naturally, where everyone was like, ‘Yeah, I’m free, I’m free…’ That’s how I kinda knew that okay, it must be the right time.

Review: Point Break (2015)

If you’re a loyal Keanu Reeves fan or extremely attached to the original Point Break you will be notably bugged by this extreme sport focused remake. If, however, you’re a new generation or have absolutely no attachment to the original then you might just get a kick out of it. If the hair-raising daredevil scenes don’t appeal to you then at the very least you’ll get to enjoy the view as blonde Johnny Utah and brunette Bodhi tackle pretty mountains and CGI looking waves while they show off their bad ass tattoos and sparkly blue eyes every chance they get.

Adam Brand and The Outlaws at Hallam Hotel

DSC01201

Who & What: Adam Brand and The Outlaws
Where: Hallam Hotel, Melbourne
When: 28th January, 2016

Take five musicians, mash them together and what do you get? – Australia’s newest country super-group, of course. I’m talking about the Outlaws, consisting of Adam Brand, Travis Collins, Matt Cornell, Drew McAlister (of McAlister Kemp fame) and Mike Carr (also known as the musical comedy character, Buddy Goode). All talented musicians in their own right – with their own respected fan bases to boot! – it’s hard to imagine how an idea like this could possibly fail.
