What: Ed Sheeran in Concert
When: December 5th, 2015
Where: AAMI Park, Melbourne, Australia

When the opportunity came up to see Ed Sheeran in concert, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go. After all, how good could one man with one guitar on one stage be? Would that be enough to fill the whole of AAMI Park?

But boy, did he ever super exceed my expectations! He commented that he recently had his first complaint from an audience member, who accused him of using a back up tape and not singing live. Ed assured us that everything we hear would be coming out of the equipment he had on stage. I thought I heard a backing track too, but I’m sure he sung all main parts live, and played his guitar live as well.

Interview: Musician Simon Gibson of ‘The Coolites’

a2664581741_10Singer, songwriter, guitarist and drummer – Simon Gibson is a well rounded performer. He returns to Australia, after living/performing in Vietnam, with the newly-formed band The Coolites and brings you their debut album Caravan Park Summers. I spoke to Simon about living overseas, performing, summer memories and the new album.

You just got back from Saigon. How was it? I’ve never been.

Saigon’s a great place. It’s pretty wild [and] it wears you out. It’s [also] very busy and noisy but it’s an interesting place to live – particularly when you first go there. In the first year or two, it’s actually really really good, but I’ve been there for over 7 years. Having said, I will be going back there in a while for a couple of weeks because I still have a lot of stuff over there. It’s a good place, it’s fun, it’s interesting. It’s another world really.

My Five Favourite Will Smith Songs

I’m not one of those people who listens to the same genre of music over and over again. In fact, my music is all kinds of eccentric, strange and wonderful that my shuffle mix would blow your mind. The music I listen to depends on the mood I’m in and lately its just called for classic Will Smith tunes. So here, I bring you – my five favourite Will Smith songs.

Be prepared to take a blast into the past. It’s been a while since he released a song! I’d love to see Will combine making movies and releasing songs into one again.

My Favourite Five: Times I’ve Misheard Song Lyrics

Don’t you hate it when you really enjoy a song only to find out the lyrics you thought made the song unique and funny…. weren’t actually the words at all? *face palm* Yep, we’ve all been there (whether we admit it or not).

Here are five selections of lyrics I’ve been oh so wrong about.

5.)  THE HARD-KNOCK LIFE (ANNIE, THE MUSICAL)

I heard: It’s a hard enough life for us.
It’s really: It’s a hard-knock life for us. (I secretly like my version better. Ssshhh don’t tell anyone.)
