Thoughts on Fiddler on the Roof

DSC07371

I’ve been lucky enough to see Fiddler on the Roof twice now – once during opening night and secondly, yesterday. This happened to be a coincidence, but it was nice to see the show from upstairs to seated near the front of the stage. I can’t seem to make up my mind which I preferred more. I liked that upstairs you could appreciate the choreography, but if you’re blind like me, nothing beats being close to the stage. So saying this, I would encourage you to see it twice, if you can, as you get to see a different perspective of the show depending where you sit.

I will have some tidbits from the media call up soon too!
But for now, there’s more under the cut!

Alan Cumming sings Sappy Songs

What: Alan Cumming Sings Sappy Songs
When: January 7th, 2016
Where: The Playhouse at the Arts Centre Melbourne

Alan Cumming sings sappy songs, yes he does. But the true brilliance of his performance lies in the delivery of his (often-naughty) stories.

I’m going off memory, so some details may be slightly off or incomplete. Sorry.

Review: Ed Sheeran at AAMI Park (2015)

DSC06213

What: Ed Sheeran in Concert
When: December 5th, 2015
Where: AAMI Park, Melbourne, Australia

When the opportunity came up to see Ed Sheeran in concert, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go. After all, how good could one man with one guitar on one stage be? Would that be enough to fill the whole of AAMI Park?

But boy, did he ever super exceed my expectations! He commented that he recently had his first complaint from an audience member, who accused him of using a back up tape and not singing live. Ed assured us that everything we hear would be coming out of the equipment he had on stage. I thought I heard a backing track too, but I’m sure he sung all main parts live, and played his guitar live as well.

Guys & Dolls at the Q Theatre in Auckland

DSC03615

When: November 10th, 2015
What: Guys and Dolls Musical
Where: Q Theatre in Auckland, New Zealand

It seems like forever ago since I went and saw Guys and Dolls during my first trip to New Zealand (I’ve been again since then) – and I guess, it probably is true. So why write a review now? What could possibly be the point? It’s not as if, you, the reader, can go and see said show after being so inspired by said review. All after, the show ended at the beginning of December.

But I think it’s important to support the theatre community and all of its performances, so perhaps after you finish reading said review, it will inspire you to see the next show that the Q and Auckland Theatre Company people put on.
