One of my childhood favourites Now and Then follows the story of four girls who made a pact years ago to be there for each other for the important stuff no matter what. The story opens with Chrissy (Rita Wilson) heavily pregnant with her first child and due to go into labour any day. If you think that is scary enough, check out her pregnancy look. Yowsers, the floral dress and hair, oh my.

Thoughts on Spy (2015)
I know some of you are probably thinking “Ugh a Melissa McCarthy movie, great” and rolling your eyes. Let’s face it, you either like her movies or you don’t. She tends to take jokes a bit too far (and into really bizarre and crude places) but, overall, I enjoy her movies. Even if she does get a little type cast in stereotypical roles.
When I saw the trailer for Spy I was interested in seeing it but also a little indifferent. If you go by the trailer alone it seems over the top, completely ridiculous and stereotypical. And it is. But it works. And there’s so much more to it than just the trailer.
Flashback Friday: Permanent Record (1988)

There is something to be said about movies made in the 80s. There’s a certain level of simplicity; an innocence and charm that you just don’t get in today’s releases. Which takes me to Permanent Record.
With an endless list of 80s movies to choose from, I couldn’t go past this little Keanu gem. I watched it for the first time recently and was left with all kind of feels. It’s a sweet movie that deals with friendship, family, pressures of high school, suicide and the aftermath of losing your best friend. Topics that will always be relevant to someone somewhere in the world.
Unless you’re a robot or some kind of sociopath missing a heart. No judgement if you are. You just might want to watch a different movie. Continue reading “Flashback Friday: Permanent Record (1988)”
Thoughts on Edge of Tomorrow (2014)
I am not a huge Tom Cruise fan. I generally find him annoying. He comes across arrogant, controlling and prone to weird publicity stunts and media stories. (*cough* couch incident *cough*) BUT, all that aside, the man can act. So, being an Emily Blunt fan since The Devil Wears Prada, I finally decided to give Edge of Tomorrow a chance. And you know what? For a military version of Groundhog Day it isn’t too bad.
Thoughts on Me Before You (2016)
I am a sucker for a good rom-com and judging by the trailer alone (as I haven’t read the book it is based on) Me Before You looked like the kind of story that would make you swing violently between laughing and crying.
While I didn’t really want to put myself into a situation where I would be silently sobbing in a cinema I decided to risk the emotional turbulence and give it a go. YOLO! I also made sure I didn’t wear any mascara and grabbed some napkins during my pre-movie lunch just in case – a girl can never be over prepared for waterworks after all.
Hocus Pocus (1993)
With all the remakes being churned out lately (because apparently Hollywood has run out of fresh ideas) I sincerely hope they leave Disney’s Hocus Pocus alone. It doesn’t need a remake, a prequel, a sequel or any other kind of reboot whatsoever. It’s cheesy and extremely over the top with special effects that scream “made in the 90s!” but that’s what makes it so Continue reading “Hocus Pocus (1993)”
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Review

While sitting through the more than two-and-a-half hour Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, I was reminded over and over again of the old adage – be careful what you wish for. Continue reading “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Review”
Thoughts on Gods of Egypt (2016)
I was drawn to this movie by the trailer alone. Ancient Egyptian mythology, special effects and Gerard Butler seemed like a winning combination. So naturally I was keen to see it. Continue reading “Thoughts on Gods of Egypt (2016)”
Thoughts on Deadpool
From the opening credits this movie will grab your attention and make you smile with an “honest” description of its stars and creators (my favourite was “Written by: The real heroes here”). Then you will laugh, cringe, smile, eye roll, feel sad, laugh, cringe again and keep going on in this manner right until the final credits roll. If Ryan Reynolds’s sass and one liners don’t linger with you well after the movie has finished then you will at least get “shoop, shoop, ba doop” stuck in your head on repeat… which is both a cool and annoying Deadpool side effect.
